4 Budget-Friendly Compact Electric SUVs Set to Launch in 2026 in India

The electric vehicle (EV) market in India is steadily expanding, with growing consumer demand encouraging automakers to roll out new models across various segments. While affordable EV options like the Tata Tiago EV, Tata Punch EV, MG Comet EV, and Windsor EV have already made entry-level electric mobility more accessible, the compact SUV space remains relatively underserved. That is set to change in 2026, when at least four new budget-friendly compact electric SUVs are expected to launch in India.

Upcoming Compact Electric SUVs in 2026

Model Expected Launch Estimated Price Range
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV H1 2026 ₹15 – 20 lakh
Kia Syros EV H1 2026 From ₹15 lakh
VinFast VF3 H2 2026 From ₹10 lakh
Hyundai Inster EV H2 2026 ₹10 – 15 lakh

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Mahindra is preparing its most affordable electric SUV yet—the XUV 3XO EV. Expected in the first half of 2026, the model is likely to feature a compact 35kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor. It may also receive subtle EV-specific styling updates inside and out.

Kia Syros EV

Kia has already begun road testing the Syros EV ahead of its planned early 2026 debut. The compact SUV is expected to share its 42kWh and 49kWh NMC battery packs with the Hyundai Inster EV sold globally. Early test mule sightings reveal a closed grille design and a front-mounted charging port.

VinFast VF3

Vietnamese automaker VinFast is continuing its expansion in India. After launching its premium VF6 and VF7 SUVs, it will introduce the entry-level VF3 in late 2026. The compact EV, available in Eco and Plus trims internationally, uses an 18.64kWh lithium-ion battery pack, designed for urban commuting with affordability as its focus.

Hyundai Inster EV

Hyundai’s compact Inster EV will directly rival the Tata Punch EV when it arrives in India in the second half of 2026. The model is expected to be offered with the same 42kWh and 49kWh battery pack options available globally. Premium features such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a 360-degree camera are also likely to be part of its equipment list.
