Key Things to Know About the Tata Sierra SUV
Tata Motors’ next major launch is the highly anticipated Sierra SUV. The electric version is slated to arrive in late 2025, with the internal combustion engine (ICE) variants following in early 2026. This new midsize SUV will compete directly with popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
Here are seven key details about the upcoming Tata Sierra:
- Triple Screen Dashboard: Spy shots confirm a unique floating triple-screen setup, featuring a central touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a dedicated passenger-side display.
- Feature-Rich Interior: The Sierra is expected to be well-equipped with premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, a premium audio system, a heads-up display, and a built-in dashcam. It will also support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- High on Safety: In line with other Tata SUVs, the Sierra will prioritize safety with a Level 2 ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, an electronic stability program, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
- Lounge Cabin Option: A unique four-seater lounge variant, complete with a sofa-like rear seat, is being considered for the production model. While not yet seen in testing, the concept version featured rear entertainment screens, multiple charging points, and foldable tray tables.
- Different Platforms: The EV and ICE versions will be built on separate platforms. The electric Sierra will use the Acti.ev platform (shared with the Punch EV and Curvv EV), while the ICE model will be based on the ATLAS architecture.
- Electric Powertrain: The electric Sierra is likely to borrow the 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs from the Harrier EV, though the final driving range may vary. It is also expected to offer an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option.
- Engine Options: The ICE version of the Sierra will initially be offered with a new 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 2.0L diesel engine. A more powerful 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine will be introduced later.
