Maruti Suzuki releases the first teaser for its new SUV, a rival to the Creta, Launching on Sept 3

Maruti Suzuki has released the first teaser for its new midsize SUV, which is set to launch on September 3, 2025. The teaser shows off the vehicle’s sharply designed LED taillamps, which have a distinctive three-dimensional lighting effect. This new SUV will be sold exclusively through the Arena dealership network and will compete directly with models like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Positioning and Features

While the official name is still under wraps, the SUV is widely being called the Maruti Escudo. It will be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara in Maruti’s lineup. This suggests it will be a larger vehicle than the Brezza but more affordable than the Grand Vitara.

According to media reports, the new SUV will be the first Maruti model to offer both a Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance System) and a Dolby Atmos audio system. It’s also expected to have features like a powered tailgate and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option, unlike the Grand Vitara. Other premium features are likely to include a 9-inch infotainment system, wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and ambient lighting.

Engine and Powertrains

Built on the same Global C platform as the Grand Vitara, the new Arena SUV is expected to share its powertrains as well. Buyers can anticipate a range of options, including a 103 bhp 1.5L mild hybrid, a 116 bhp 1.5L strong hybrid, and an 88 bhp 1.5L CNG engine. Reports also suggest it could be the first Maruti CNG vehicle with an underbody CNG tank.

Expected Pricing

Official prices will be announced at the launch, but the new Maruti SUV is predicted to start around ₹10 lakh for the base model and reach up to ₹19 lakh for the top-end hybrid variant.
