India’s Most Affordable Scooters with ABS

The most affordable scooter with ABS in India is currently priced at just Rs 1.19 lakh.

Once limited to premium motorcycles, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) has gradually entered the scooter market, giving everyday riders greater safety and confidence. With India’s unpredictable road conditions, ABS acts as a critical safety feature, helping prevent skids and improving braking stability.

However, the list of scooters offering ABS at budget-friendly prices is set to change significantly from January 2026, when the government is expected to mandate ABS on all new two-wheelers, irrespective of engine capacity. Until then, ABS continues to be positioned as a premium offering, mostly reserved for higher-end scooters.

5. Yamaha Aerox 155

Priced at Rs 1.54 lakh, the Yamaha Aerox 155 sits in the premium scooter segment.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 was among the first scooters to enter this niche segment and immediately stood out to enthusiasts. Its bold, unconventional styling set it apart from typical Indian scooters, while its performance credentials made it even more appealing. Powering the Aerox is a 155cc engine derived from the Yamaha R15, equipped with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology, delivering 14.75hp and 13.9Nm of torque.

On the safety front, the Aerox 155 comes with single-channel ABS as standard, ensuring better braking control. It also packs in a host of premium features rarely seen in scooters, including keyless ignition, traction control, and smartphone connectivity for call and message alerts.

4. Ola S1 Pro+ 3rd Gen

The Ola S1 Pro+ 3rd Gen is priced from Rs 1.49 lakh onwards.

The Ola S1 Pro+ currently sits at the top of the brand’s lineup, distinguished by its inclusion of dual-channel ABS—a feature absent on the standard S1 Pro. Introduced earlier this year, the scooter is offered in two variants: 4kWh and 5.3kWh. The higher-capacity model debuts Ola’s in-house 4680 battery cell, which the company claims can deliver an impressive 320km IDC range.

Performance is another highlight, with the two variants boasting claimed top speeds of 128kph and 141kph, making the S1 Pro+ one of the quickest electric scooters on sale in India.

3. Hero Xoom 160

Hero’s Xoom 160 is available in India at Rs 1.49 lakh.

The Hero Xoom 160 marks the company’s foray into the maxi-scooter segment. First unveiled at the Auto Expo 2025, the scooter has now started arriving at dealerships, with customer deliveries already underway.

In line with the segment standard, the Xoom 160 is equipped with a rear drum brake and single-channel ABS. Powering it is a new 156cc liquid-cooled engine producing 14.6hp and 14Nm, which, as we observed in our first ride review, delivers steady performance even beyond 80kph.

Priced at Rs 1,48,500 (ex-showroom), the Xoom 160 undercuts the Ola S1 Pro+, making it the more affordable choice, and therefore ranking higher on this list of accessible ABS-equipped scooters.

2. Aprilia SR 175

The Aprilia SR 175 is priced from Rs 1.31 lakh onwards.

The Aprilia SR 175 boasts the largest engine displacement among the mainstream contenders on this list. Its 174.7cc motor produces 12.9hp and 14.1Nm, offering a balance of power and everyday usability. The model replaced the SR 160 in Aprilia’s India lineup and brought with it notable updates, including a TFT instrument cluster and a refreshed design, while most of the mechanicals remain unchanged.

For safety, the SR 175 is equipped with single-channel ABS, aligning with segment standards.

1. TVS Ntorq 150

The TVS Ntorq 150 is priced from Rs 1.19 lakh onwards.

The TVS Ntorq 150 holds the distinction of being the most affordable scooter with ABS in India. Unlike rivals such as the Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155, which feature liquid-cooled engines, TVS has chosen to equip the larger Ntorq with an air-cooled motor—a decision that helps keep its pricing aggressive.

Power comes from a 149.7cc, three-valve engine that produces 13.2hp and 14.2Nm. For buyers seeking extra features, TVS also offers a higher-spec variant with a TFT display, available at a premium of just Rs 10,000 more.

Honourable Mentions

Now, you might argue that calling the next two scooters “affordable” is a bit of a stretch—and you’d be right. But affordability is always relative. For buyers with a significantly larger budget, these premium scooters also deserve a mention, as they come equipped with ABS as standard:

BMW C 400 GT

The scooter is available in India at Rs 11.75 lakh.

If value for money is your top priority, the BMW C 400 GT probably isn’t the scooter for you. Priced at a hefty Rs 11.75 lakh, it sits in a league of its own. Powering it is a 350cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 34hp and 35Nm—figures that put it on par with many mid-capacity motorcycles and more than double the output of most scooters on this list.

On the safety front, the C 400 GT comes equipped with BMW’s ABS Pro system with Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), essentially the brand’s take on cornering ABS. As expected at this price point, it is packed with premium features such as a 6.5-inch TFT display, full-LED lighting, keyless ignition, and ride-by-wire throttle. Buyers can further elevate the experience with optional extras, including heated grips, heated seats, and even a larger 10.25-inch TFT display.

Honda X-ADV

The scooter is available in India at Rs 11.91 lakh.

The Honda X-ADV pushes the limits of what a scooter can be, blending the rugged ability of an adventure motorcycle with the convenience of a maxi-scooter. Priced at Rs 11.91 lakh, it stands as the largest-capacity scooter on sale in India and the only one powered by a parallel-twin engine. Its 745cc motor delivers an impressive 58.6hp and 69Nm, offering performance figures that rival midsize motorcycles.

Safety and technology are equally advanced. Alongside ABS, the X-ADV is equipped with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), multiple riding modes, and a dual-clutch transmission (DCT)—the same system used on Honda’s flagship Africa Twin. This combination makes it as capable on highways and trails as it is in the city, redefining the boundaries of the scooter segment.

All prices are ex-showroom.
