Aprilia SR 175: Performance Test Explained
Aprilia India has quietly replaced the SR 160 with the new SR 175 scooter. This scooter comes with a new, larger engine, which is now the biggest air-cooled engine on a scooter in India. Here is how it performed in our tests.
Aprilia SR 175 Acceleration Test
The tests were done on a day when the roads were dry, but it had rained earlier. The performance could be even better in completely dry conditions. The SR 175’s engine is very punchy, giving you instant power rather than a high top speed.
- 0-40 kph: 2.76 seconds
- 0-60 kph: 5.69 seconds
- 0-80 kph: 11.35 seconds
When accelerating from 0 to 60 kph, the Aprilia is almost as fast as its main rival, the more powerful Yamaha Aerox 155. However, once you cross 60 kph, the SR’s power reduces, and the Yamaha pulls ahead.
Aprilia SR 175 Rolling Acceleration Test
The SR 175’s engine has the most torque in its class. This means you get strong power as soon as you twist the throttle. This is great for city riding, where you can easily cut through traffic and have fun. Even at higher speeds, the scooter performs well, making it one of the few scooters under Rs 2 lakh that you can comfortably use on a highway.
Aprilia SR 175: Braking Test
The brakes on the SR 175 are very powerful and responsive. They also give you good feedback, so you know exactly how much pressure to apply.
It can stop from 60 kph in just 19.18 meters. Unlike most scooters, the front brake on the SR 175 does most of the work to stop the scooter, while the rear brake mainly helps to keep it stable.
Because of its engine size, the scooter comes with single-channel ABS, which is a great safety feature to have on our unpredictable roads.
