Here’s a closer look at the key details of these upcoming SUVs.
Upcoming SUVs in September 2025
New Maruti SUV (Y17)
Codenamed “Y17,” this new Maruti SUV will share its platform and powertrains with the Grand Vitara. This means it will offer a variety of engine options: a 103bhp, 1.5L petrol engine, a 116bhp hybrid variant, and an 88bhp CNG option. The SUV is expected to stand out with several segment-first features, including a Dolby Atmos sound system and a Level-2 ADAS suite. Prices are anticipated to start around Rs 10.50 lakh.
Vinfast VF6/VF7
Vinfast is making its debut with two electric SUVs. The Vinfast VF6 will be available in “Earth” and “Wind” variants, powered by a 59.6kWh battery pack that provides a claimed WLTP range of 480km.
The larger Vinfast VF7 will be offered in three trims (“Earth,” “Wind,” and “Sky”). It will feature a 70.8kWh battery pack and dual electric motors, with a claimed driving range of 496km. Both models will come in six exterior colors and two interior themes.
Citroen Basalt X
The new Citroen Basalt X is a new top-of-the-line variant with minor but notable upgrades. It will feature a redesigned dashboard with bronze accents and a new Garnet Red color option. Feature highlights may include an optional 360-degree camera, keyless entry, push-button start/stop, and multiple airbags. Under the hood, it will retain the same 110bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol engine paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
