Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, saw a slight 0.54% year-on-year decline in its August 2025 sales, with a total of 1,80,683 units sold. Segment-Wise Performance
Sales varied significantly across different segments:

- Compact Cars, which include popular models like the Baleno and Swift, showed strong performance with 59,597 units sold.
- SUVs also saw a notable drop, with 54,043 units sold compared to 62,684 units in August 2024.
- The Eeco van contributed 10,785 units to the total sales, and the Super Carry LCV sold 2,772 units.
Maruti’s New Electric Vehicle
In a significant development, Maruti Suzuki began exporting its first all-electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, in August 2025. The company shipped over 2,900 units from Gujarat to 12 European countries.
On August 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially flagged off the e-Vitara from the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, praising Maruti as a “Make in India” ambassador. The e-Vitara is planned for exclusive manufacturing at this plant and will be exported to over 100 countries globally.
The e-Vitara is expected to launch in India in the first quarter of 2026. It will come with two battery pack options and a range of over 500km on a single charge. Meanwhile, Maruti is also preparing to launch a new midsize SUV on September 3, 2025, which will be sold exclusively through its Arena dealerships.
