The midsize SUV space is set for major action in 2026, with several new launches, facelifts, and the revival of iconic nameplates lined up. Among the most anticipated updates are the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun, both of which are slated to receive significant mid-cycle facelifts. Test mules of the two SUVs have already been spotted on Indian roads, wearing heavy to partial camouflage, hinting at the changes in store.

Level-2 ADAS and 360-Degree Camera

The biggest talking point of the 2026 Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun facelifts will be the introduction of Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This feature will bring the SUVs on par with key rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Curvv, Honda Elevate, and MG Astor. Both models will also gain a 360-degree camera, further strengthening their safety and convenience package.

2026 Skoda Kushaq Facelift – Key Changes Anticipated

The upcoming Skoda Kushaq facelift has already been spotted testing, hinting at several design upgrades. The SUV is expected to receive sharper headlamps, a reworked grille with slimmer vertical slats, and fog lamps repositioned lower on the bumper. A new connected DRL signature, inspired by the latest Skoda Kodiaq, is also likely. Other exterior tweaks could include a more angular air dam, newly designed blacked-out alloys, sleeker tail-lamps, and a full-width LED strip across the boot lid. Inside, the refreshed model may introduce revised upholstery, updated trims, and advanced driver assistance features (ADAS).

2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift – Key Changes Anticipated

Volkswagen’s Taigun will undergo a mid-cycle update in 2026, with revisions mainly focused on its bumpers and lighting elements. Expect redesigned headlamps and tail-lamps while the overall sheet metal design stays the same. Much like the Kushaq, the Taigun facelift is likely to benefit from new interior finishes and upholstery updates. The biggest highlight will be the inclusion of Level-2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera, elevating its tech package to match segment rivals.

Same Engines, But Likely a New Gearbox

Both the 2026 Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun facelifts are expected to carry forward their existing petrol engine lineup. This includes the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol producing 115bhp and 178Nm of torque, and the more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol delivering 150bhp and 250Nm. A 6-speed manual will continue as standard, while the larger engine will retain the option of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT). However, a big change could be in store for the smaller 1.0-litre unit – its current 6-speed torque converter automatic is rumoured to be swapped out for a more efficient 8-speed automatic, which could improve performance, fuel economy, and emissions.
