Projector headlights first made their debut in luxury cars decades ago before becoming mainstream in mass-market models. Motorcycles followed a similar path—initially, projectors were exclusive to premium bikes, but today they’re finding their way into even budget-friendly commuters.
Unlike traditional reflector setups, projector headlights—whether halogen or LED—offer superior illumination with a sharper beam, more uniform spread, and better control. With riders increasingly prioritising visibility and safety, manufacturers have started equipping affordable models with this technology.
Here are six motorcycles under Rs 1.5 lakh that come factory-fitted with projector headlights.
6. TVS Apache RTR 160 4V
Rs 1.26 – 1.48 lakh
To mark 20 years of the Apache, TVS rolled out updated versions of the RTR 160 4V and RTR 200 4V, both featuring a new mono-projector LED headlamp. While the RTR 200 4V isn’t part of this list due to its higher price bracket, it shares the same front-end styling with the RTR 160 4V. The setup consists of a centrally mounted projector flanked by twin DRLs at the base, which TVS says will become the signature design for future Apache models.
5. Bajaj Pulsar N250
Rs 1.44 lakh
The Pulsar N250 is the sole 250cc motorcycle on this list. Like the Apache, it features a mono-projector LED headlight, but with a different DRL arrangement. On the N250, twin DRLs sit above the projector, giving it a unique front-end identity compared to the Apache, while also bearing some stylistic resemblance to the Yamaha MT-15.
4. Bajaj Pulsar 220F
Rs 1.38 lakh
The Pulsar 220F is not only one of the oldest motorcycles on this list but also one of the first in India to come with a projector headlight. Due to its age, it remains the only model here to use a halogen projector, while all the other bikes have switched to modern LED units.
3. Yamaha FZ-X
Rs 1.30 – 1.42 lakh
The Yamaha FZ-X stands out as the quirkiest model in Yamaha’s FZ lineup. Unlike its pseudo-muscular siblings, the FZ-X leans toward a more commuter-friendly design. Its front is dominated by an LED mono-projector headlight, encircled by a DRL that gives the bike a distinctive face. The FZ-X is available in multiple colours, including black, blue, orange, and a chrome finish on the top-spec variant.
Yamaha has also introduced the FZ-X Hybrid, featuring an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) system that switches off the engine at idle and restarts it smoothly when the clutch is engaged, improving efficiency and fuel economy.
2. Pulsar N160
Rs 1.22 – 1.37 lakh
The Bajaj Pulsar N160 is the smallest model in the Pulsar lineup to feature an LED projector headlight. Its front-end styling mirrors that of the larger N250, but the smaller engine keeps it more affordable. The N160 has also received a recent update with a USD front fork, enhancing both its looks and handling.
1. Hero Xtreme 125R
Rs 98,839 – 1.03 lakh
The Hero Xtreme 125R is currently the most affordable motorcycle in India to feature an LED projector headlight. It comes with a unique setup: twin projector units serve as the low beam, while twin LED reflectors handle the high beam. Recently, Hero also launched a single-piece seat variant of the Xtreme 125R, priced at ₹1 lakh, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers.
