Kia Seltos Hybrid Launch Postponed – What Buyers Should Know

Kia Seltos Hybrid Launch Pushed to 2027

The second-generation Kia Seltos Hybrid will now arrive in 2027, alongside the next-gen Hyundai Creta. Earlier reports had suggested that the all-new Seltos would debut in late 2025 and reach Indian roads by April 2026. However, the timeline has been revised, delaying its market launch by at least a year.

When it finally goes on sale, the 2027 Kia Seltos Hybrid will take on rivals such as the upcoming Renault Duster Hybrid, Hyundai Creta Hybrid, and Honda Elevate Hybrid.

What Does This Mean for Buyers?

The delay means prospective buyers will need to wait longer for Kia’s hybrid option. In the meantime, alternatives like the Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid, Toyota Hyryder Hybrid, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta Hybrid may become more appealing choices.

On the flip side, the postponement could work in buyers’ favour—allowing Kia to refine its hybrid technology further, potentially offering better fuel efficiency, improved performance, and more premium features when the model does arrive.

2027 Kia Seltos Hybrid – What to Expect

Engine Options

Kia is expected to pair its proven 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with an electrified hybrid system for the Seltos. This setup will also be used in the Creta Hybrid.

  • The hybrid powertrain is likely to be offered only on the higher trims.

  • The lower and mid-level variants are expected to continue with the existing 1.5L NA petrol, 1.5L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L turbo-diesel options.

New Design Language

Spy shots suggest that the new Seltos will adopt Kia’s latest ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, similar to the Kia Syros.

Key highlights may include:

  • A redesigned front grille

  • Vertical angular DRLs and updated fog lamp clusters

  • Fresh alloy wheel designs

  • A full-width LED light bar connecting the tail-lamps

  • Reports also indicate that the new-gen Seltos could be around 100mm longer than the outgoing version.

Premium Features

The SUV is likely to inherit several upmarket features from the Kia Syros, such as:

  • A 30-inch Trinity digital display

  • Sliding and reclining rear seats

  • Ventilated front and rear seats

  • Dual-tone Silver-Grey upholstery with orange accents (as seen in spy shots)

Price Expectations

The Kia Seltos Hybrid will sit above the ICE-powered versions in the lineup. It is expected to carry a premium of ₹2–2.5 lakh over the regular petrol and diesel variants.
